The Eurasia Review website reports today (March 13, 2012) that an axe-wielding man burst into a mosque outside Brussels yesterday, and started a fire that resulted in the death of the imam.
Police have not identified the suspect, but say he is a 34-year-old Muslim.
He started the fire in the mosque -- using a flammable liquid -- and the imam died after inhaling smoke and fumes while trying to put out the flames.
Police arrested the suspect -- who had been locked in a room by worshipers -- but a motive for the attack is not yet known.
